Welcome to the White Hole Resort fishing report! This space will be a place to get the rundown on recent fishing updates, happenings around the resort, and any news pertaining to the White River and surrounding fisheries. We look forward to sharing a little bit of the experience at the resort with you through this blog.
March is here, and so is spring. Trees are starting to bloom, and after a little chill first thing in the morning, the temperatures have been very comfortable and downright balmy by midday. Obviously, this typically means less water generation and tougher fishing for the browns, but we have still seen plenty of nice fish being caught these last couple of weeks, and the browns seem to be fattening back up after their winter spawn. What’s more, the rainbow numbers and average size seem to be on a noticeable upswing, with stocking efforts improving. Multiple guests have caught 17+ inch rainbows lately, with good, consistent numbers across the board.
Fish have been eating shad, as well as shad patterns and lures. If you are coming, we have shad in stock, as well as shad flies and lures for sale in the shop. When the flows do come up, fish have been aggressive, taking streamers and jerkbaits. For flies, Sunday Specials with a ruby or rootbeer midge dropper have started to produce on minimum flow nymphing days.
Around the lodge, we’ve begun work on renovating the back porch with a new coat of paint and some new furniture on the way to make for an excellent hangout for your group in the evenings around a fire. If you’ve been thinking about planning a trip with us, now is the time to reach out, as we have been booking steadily for the upcoming months. Don’t wait until the last minute!
We look forward to seeing you on the river! – Bailey and Morgan
