White River Fishing Regulations
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) regulates the White River to preserve its fishery and ensure safe boating. Below is a summary of the most important rules for our stretch of the river.

The Basics
Fishing Licenses
All anglers 16 years of age and older must carry a valid Arkansas Fishing License and an Arkansas Trout Permit.
You can purchase licenses and permits through the AGFC website or at the White Hole Resort Bait Shop with a valid photo ID and your Social Security number.
Boating Regulations
If you were born on or after January 1, 1986, you must carry a state-authorized Boater Education Certificate
Arkansas accepts boater education certificates from other states.

Trout Limits
Due to an emergency order given October 2025, trout regulations on the White River in Arkansas are strictly controlled.
As of February 1st, 2026, trout anglers on the White River can currently keep two rainbow trout under 14 inches.
Important Fishing Regulations
- Once placed in a livewell or on a stringer, a fish may not be released.

Trout (or trout parts) may not be used as bait.

Only one fishing rod may be used at a time.

Your fishing rod must be attended at all times.

Trout may only be taken with a fishing rod.

Treble hooks are not permitted when fishing with bait.
Catch-and-Release Area
A designated catch-and-release section exists within the first mile below Bull Shoals Dam, approximately six miles upriver from our location.
